New boiler or repair the fault?
New boiler or repair the fault?
Before making a decision on whether you need a boiler repair or a full boiler replacement, ask yourself the following questions:
1 ) How old is your boiler? Boilers over 7 years old will develop faults quicker than a new boiler.
2 ) Plans to move house soon? If so, it may be worth repairing, but remember a boiler failure around completion date could cause costly delays.
3 ) Low boiler efficiency rating? If your boiler is rated less than A, a new boiler can save money and energy.
4 ) How long does your home take to heat? If it’s longer than you’d like, it may be time to upgrade.
5 ) What colour is your boiler flame? A yellow flame can be a sign of carbon monoxide, which is dangerous and should be inspected straight away.
6 ) Availability of boiler parts? The older your boiler, the harder parts are to source, which can mean bigger repair bills.
7 ) Boiler leaking? Valves or seals may be broken and this can result in flooding, so get it checked out. If the leak can’t be easily repaired, it may be time to replace.
9 ) Boiler or radiators noisy? Banging or gurgling noises tell us something isn’t right, and it’s time to get in touch.
